• The Karuizawa-juku

The Karuizawa-juku was crowded with lots of visitors ahead of Usui confrontation. Ash fall due to the large eruption of Mt. Asama in 1787 is more than 4 feets and the town suffers catastrophic damage. The Karuizawa-juku stood approximately 11.6 km from the Sakamoto-juku. The town had a population of 451 (man 189、woman 262), 119 houses, one honjinour waki-hon]in,and 21 hatago in the year 1843.

The sun has set southwestern part of the Karuizawa-juku. The field lit by the moonlight is bright, with the burning fire crisis, the traveler puts a futon on the back of the horse and rides on it.
